ABOUT ME

Lindsey Schleich grew up in Akron, Ohio.  She started dancing at the age of three in a small two room studio.  Barbie: Swan Lake and Nutcracker were what inspired her at her young age.  She later moved to The Dance Institute at Akron University.  Growing bored with the same ballet routines everyday, she decided to expand her horizons and try new forms of dance.  She moved to Dance Evolution to start competing then moved to 8 Count Dance where she stayed for the remaining years in high school.  Here she focused on contemporary, modern and jazz.  Missing the ballet, she started to really try her best in those classes and expand her ballet experience outside of her regular studio.  These included things like a master class with Misty Copeland and the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy in NEOD's The Nutcracker. In the competition scene, Lindsey enjoyed choreographing her own solo for her senior year titled Pusher.  After that she moved on to the Ohio State University currently earning her BFA in Dance.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I see myself doing many different things with dance.  I love choreographing, as well as performing and I've noticed recently I think I would even like to teach.  This is one of the reasons I think this major is so amazing.  There are so many different things you can do with it.

I know I definitely want to perform, but if that doesn't work out I want to make pieces to perform.  Dance makes my body feel good at the end of the day which is what I think sparked my interest in health and wellness as well as food.  I don't think I will go as far as physical therapy but I'm definitely advocate for fitness and healthy eating and I hope to inspire people to be healthier and help our earth.
